OMFG it is the last Friday in August! It’s Labor Day Weekend?! Where the heck did the summer go? September always feels like fall to me even though it’s technically still summer until way past the middle of the month. I think it’s because my birthday is in September and I always wanted to be a fall birthday. So, even though I’m holding on to summer as long as I can, I also cannot wait until the weather starts to cool slightly and we can eat all the cozy foods (noodles! cheese! CARBS!) without being judged. Also, it’s pumpkin spice latte season and I’m excited I’m basic like that.
Anyway, here’s what I’ve been reading about on the internets.
Webstuff:
- Fall food shows and cookbooks to watch out for.
- What are your guys’ thoughts on universal basic income? Mike and I talk about it sometimes – what it would mean for the future, how people would make extra money, how insane it would be, but also maybe how it might make sense?
- Hawaiian pizza in Beijing.
- I feel like I can’t even speak one language properly. Can you imagine being able to speak dozens?
- Jaden Smith and why Poseidon – the literal Greek god – has next level vibes.
- What the what? A $500 golden hair dryer.
- Suburban mom heroin epidemic.
- The Red Delicious reign of terror is OVER.
- I hadn’t heard of BTS before this, but now I’m kinda low-key obsessed?
- KFC marketing gone rogue.
- Teens doing Instagram sponsored posts are the new summer job.
- Birkenstocks are still on the rise.
- Stephen Colbert is so nerdy, I love it :)

- I sped through this book – it’s a dark and unpredictable mystery and the world was thought out so well. I thought about it for ages afterwards.
Lately on I am a Food Blog:
- All about the hatch chiles: make this easy 4 ingredient salsa!
- Even more hatch chiles, this time with chicken with these easy oven baked hot honey hatch chicken thighs.
- Are you a hatch chile chili fan? Tender chunks of pork in a spicy green chile sauce.
- Bacon bing bread. Need I say more?
- Chicken al pastor. So not traditional, so delicious.
